Sometimes our Engineers come across problems where the whole motherboard has to be changed why is this? Look at the image below.
This chip is easily removed from the motherboard because it has pins that can be unsoldered from the motherboard. However if you look in the picture on the top right you will see an Intel chipset. This chip was attached to the motherboard when it was made and it cannot be removed from the motherboard. Ok it can be removed but usually replacing the chip needs an x-ray to make sure the chip can be returned perfectly to its place. many companies claim to be able to do this but trust us we have used them and had nightmares. It may work for a month or so but it usually needs a main board replacement. In our workshop we have many power manager chips and fets and integrated circuits that only Sony use so we can repair your laptop for you.
